FUTSAL

Futsal originates from the South American countries of Uruguay and Brazil from the 1930s. The term is commonly translated as indoor football but a more literal translation is hall/lounge football. The game is played between two teams who each have 5 players on the pitch at any one time with rolling substitutes and a smaller ball which is harder and less bouncy. The idea of Futsal is to improve touch, technique and receiving the ball in tight areas/spaces which in turn improves decision making. The game is very fast paced with no offsides or retreats with certain restrictions in place .e.g timings of releasing the ball from a side kick in, multiple foul rules etc.It is no coincidence that the girls who attend Futsal on a weekly basis are the ones who are excelling week on week in their grassroots teams/academy.We have players and coaches who represent multiple clubs in Lancashire which proves that Lancashire Spitfires Futsal is one of the leading all girls Futsal clubs in Lancashire. Many of the academies in the winter months deliver a Futsal programme as they value the importance of delivering this version of football. For the skeptics out there, many of the best players out there in football have participated in Futsal during their career including Andres Iniesta, Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Luis Figo, Neymar Jr,, Pele, Ronaldinho, Ronaldo R9 and Xavi, just some of the world greats! We take players from any club so come along and get involved. We have recently entered 3v3 and 5v5 formats and we are off to St Georges park end August!
